In 2011, Wisconsin based Resilent technologies was awarded a four-year contract to develop their Non-Pneumatic Tire (NPT). The tire is designed to function even if struck with bullets or shrapnel. The tire is designed with a flexible plastic web design that allows the tire to flex over rough terrain. In 2013, Polaris acquired Resilent technologies and began using the tires on off-road vehicles, but we have yet to see these tires fielded across the Military.
