Netflix to release “Space Force,” a spoof about an Air Force general

The Space Force is the subject of a new Netflix comedy starring Steve Carell, and it will likely cause a stir when it premiers in late May.

Carell plays four-star general Mark Naird, whose career plans of becoming the head of the US Air Force are derailed after he is assigned to lead the USSF instead.

The use of a four-star as the head of the Space Force mirrors the real-life requirement set forth, which mandates that a four-star general hold the command reins.

With John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, Diana Silvers, and Lisa Kudrow on the billet, the show will likely take a more mocking tone of the sixth US Military branch, though nothing can be for certain at this time.

In the show, the goal is to get the Space Force up and running, with a mission to return Americans to the moon.

According Netflix, the show is expected to be viewable May 29.
