A senior non-commissioned officer serving at a US Navy base in California is being investigated after he was caught in a sting by a private citizen group that hunts child predators.
The Coronado-based Navy master chief was the subject of the video, shot and narrated by a vigilante group called People versus Predators (People v. Preds).
The group baited the master chief into meeting with them at a grocery store.
“I run an organization,” one of the vigilantes could be heard saying offscreen. “It’s called people versus Predators. I catch people like you coming to meet underage children and have sex with them.”
According to ABC10, the chief admitted to being on active duty.
The senior NCO admitted he was there to meet up with the fictional “jailbait” and stated that he was embarrassed.
The US Navy confirmed that he is a master chief who works at the SEAL training base for Naval Special Warfare Command.
“Out of respect for the investigative process, NCIS does not comment on or confirm details relating to ongoing investigations. Due to the ongoing investigation, no charges have been filed at this time,” a Navy spokesperson said.
The video was reportedly shot in 2021.
