A Medal of Honor recipient, retired U.S. Army Capt. Florent “Flo” Groberg, gave Hillary Clinton his full endorsement during a brief speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night.

During his speech, Groberg proclaimed, “As president she will reform the VA, not privatize it. She will help heal the invisible wounds that lead to suicide.”

“As commander and chief she will defeat ISIS,” he said

Groberg entered the Army in July 2008, becoming a Ranger qualified infantry officer.  After completion of his training he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo., as a platoon leader.

During his second deployment to Afghanistan in 2012 he sustained the loss of 45 to 50 percent of his left calf muscle with significant nerve damage, a blown eardrum, and a mild traumatic brain injury while attempting to save fellow soldiers from suicide bomber.

On November 12, 2015 he was awarded the Medal of Honor, becoming the 10th living service member to receive the Medal of Honor for actions in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Groberg currently resides in the National Capital Region and is a civilian employee of the Department of Defense.
