Dakota Meyer, the former marine who earned the Medal of Honor for his bravery in Afghanistan has made the former daughter of a vice presidential nominee his bride to be. Bristol Palin, the daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and a reality television personality, has said yes to Meyer’s recent marriage proposal.
Dakota and Bristol’s engagement was announced on Dakota’s Instagram page where he posted “I’m definitely the luckiest guy ever to be able to spend the rest of my life with @bsmp2 #shesaidyes”
Bristol starred in her own Lifetime reality show Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp and also competed in the 2010 season of Dancing with the Stars. Before her television fame, Bristol was most known for unplanned pregnancy during her mother’s unsuccessful campaign for Vice President. She later became a spokesperson for the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned pregnancy, advocating sex abstinence for teenagers.
Dakota Meyer has not shied away from nation attention after receiving the Medal of Honor in 2011 for his actions in Ganjgal, Afghanistan in 2009. Meyer co-wrote a book, Into the Fire: A Firsthand Account of the Most Extraordinary Battle in the Afghan War about the actions that resulted in him receiving the nation’s highest military award.
He has also appeared on Fox News multiple times to offer his opinions on radical Islam and even to defend our nation’s police force. He has a massive following on his various social media accounts and is well respected by his fellow Marines and the veteran community.
