Model breaks US travel ban, poses naked with North Korean soldier’s hat

A model exercised poor judgement and nearly landed herself in the gulag after she consumed alcohol in North Korea, which led to her posing naked for photos and stealing a soldier’s hat?

Liziane Gutierrez, 33, defied a US travel ban to go to the Hermit Kingdom, going to Pyongyang on a train where there was an excess of alcohol.

The model found a soldier’s hat in the lavatory of the train, and decided to take it to the other passengers.

“You’re crazy,” the other passengers allegedly said. “You can’t do that.”

Gutierrez then took photos with the hat before returning it.

According to the Mirror, the model then defied North Korean law by taking selfies with the statues of Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung.

“I was just taking a selfie, I didn’t even realise,” she said.

Later, the model continued to exercise poor judgement by posing nude in her hotel room and later wearing a “USA” skirt in the streets of Pyongyang.

Finally, the consequences became a reality during her departure from North Korea, when border guards demanded that she show them all the photos on her phone.

“I started freaking out because I didn’t realise, until that moment, that all my pictures, everything that I was doing would be seen,” she said. “I was extremely nervous because I could end up in jail. I was very lucky that they didn’t check the album containing all the pics I took there.”

That said, the model is willing to go back.

“I loved North Korea and I’m going back for sure,” she said. “The people are super friendly, the drinks are very cheap, and from what I saw of North Korea it’s a very nice country.”
