The family of a missing Marine based out of Camp Pendleton is seeking help from the public to find their son, who was reportedly seen roaming the base.
23-year-old Lance Corporal Bailey Cameron was last seen on Saturday, August 24, at a bar in Carlsbad, California.
Cameron’s mysterious disappearance has left his family, who traveled from Washington to search for him, fearing that he might be in serious trouble.
Since going missing, there have been several reported sightings of Cameron around the base, though none have been confirmed by authorities.
The Marine Corps and local law enforcement —including Carlsbad Police and NCIS— are investigating Cameron’s disappearance.
Despite a multi-agency effort, the family has reportedly been told very little by authorities.
Cameron’s mother, Juliana England, said the family as a whole are exhausted and desperate, clinging to any hope that their son will be found safe.
According to FOX 5, Cameron was scheduled to leave the Marines on September 9.
The last known footage of him alive shows him leaving the Coyote Bar and Grill without his belongings, including his phone.
Sharie Finn, who leads a nonprofit organization that aids families in situations like this, informed the press that Cameron has not been in touch with his command post or friends since he went missing.
Cameron’s father, Kevin, expressed deep concern over his son’s unusual behavior, which he described as out of character.
On August 31, a Marine reported seeing Cameron on base, describing him as distressed and afraid before he ran toward the ocean.
Surveillance images also captured Cameron at an ATM on base earlier that week, leading many to believe the Marine is hiding somewhere on base.
Camp Pendleton officials have not confirmed any of the reported sightings, as any and all leads must be verified.
The family urges anyone who may have seen Cameron or has any information to contact the Carlsbad Police Department or the Military Police.
