Military wife arrested for stabbing baby and running naked through streets of Spain

A thirty five year-old military spouse has been detained in Spain after stabbing her baby daughter.

The woman is married to a service member stationed at Morón Air Base in southern Spain, according to The Local (a Spanish news publication).

“She was running through the town naked shouting ‘kill, kill, kill’ in English,” a spokeswoman for the police told The Local.

The police assumed that she had been the victim of a crime when they arrived on the scene, but when they accompanied her home they found her baby.

Police said, “The baby was stabbed several times and the knife was lying by her side” The ten-month-old baby is reportedly in a “serious but stable condition” at the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville, Spain.

The woman, who has not been identified was taken to the psychiatric ward of the same hospital.

Morón Air Base is a small installation with around 850 permanent US Airmen and DOD civilians since the March 2014 agreement between Spain and the US.  The military base has been used jointly by Spanish and US Air Forces since 1953.
