A disabled Army veteran was attacked Saturday night after an event at Parkway Villas near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus.

Cristina Alfonso-Zea says she got hit from behind on June 25th, in a parking lot outside of her home.

She told News Channel 3 that possibly four men hit her in the back of the head during the violent mugging. She remembers handing over her cell phone and wallet before she was knocked unconscious.

When she came to, she noticed profanity and a racial slur carved into her SUV.  The Queens, NY native says she was shocked to see the derogatory term “wetback” on her vehicle.

In tears, she told News 3 that “It hurts to the core to know that I fought for a country like this.”

Other military vets have set up a GoFundMe page to help Alfonso-Zea with relocation costs, as well as repair costs for her damaged vehicle.

Police are still looking for the suspects and asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers.
