
A military police officer assigned to Fort Knox has been arrested for attempting to solicit sex from a minor.
James Leroy Cayton, 37, was was charged with the prohibited use of an electronic communications system to procure a minor for sex, a Class D felony, according to The News-Enterprise.
He was located and arrested with the assistance of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command after a multi-week investigation.
The state attorney general’s Cyber Crimes Unit stated Cayton was under investigation after he posted an online advertisement seeking sex with “any age.”
Cayton alledgedly communicated over the internet with an undercover investigator who was posing as a minor.
Cayton was able to be released from jail after posting a partially secured bond of $25,000, according to the attorney general’s office.
Cayton’s rank, unit, and position at Fort Knox are unknown at this time.
