Military couple involved in attempted murder-suicide outside Fort Gordon

Yesterday morning a military couple was involved in a shooting at their home in Grovetown, GA—which is just north of Fort Gordon.

At 6:45 AM Grovetown Public Safety officers responded to 400 block of Northrup Place, off Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown.

According to WRDW, an Army veteran and his active-duty Air Force wife were involved in a domestic dispute when the shooting occurred.

The Airman was found by officers with several gunshots in her chest and she was rushed to Augusta University Medical center for treatment. She is has been reported as in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

The deputy coroner said the Army veteran was found dead by the officers when they responded to the scene. He reportedly was found with a single gunshot wound in his head.

Grovetown Public Safety is calling this an attempted murder and suicide.

Investigators believe the man (Army veteran) was the aggressor and multiple firearms have been removed from the home.

Fort Gordon Public Affairs refused to comment on the incident and Grovetown Public Safety was unavailable for further comment.
