Filmmaker Michael Moore took to Twitter to bash snipers as “cowards” that “will shoot you in the back” on the weekend premier of the American Sniper, a movie already critically acclaimed and receiver of multiple Academy Award nominations.
Fahrenheit 9/11 director Moore tweeted: “My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren’t heroes. And invaders r worse.”

Hours later, the director voiced his opinion again on Twitter.
But if you’re on the roof of your home defending it from invaders who’ve come 7K miles, you are not a sniper, u are brave, u are a neighbor.

We responded to Michael Moore, asking him how he would fight in a less “cowardly manner.” He has yet to respond.

The biopic, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Bradley Cooper, is based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the man who has the most confirmed kills in American military history at 160.
