A Marine veteran made a choice to add some extra patriotic entertainment to last Friday’s Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park.
Using Facebook Live on his page, Freedom Hard, which has almost 200k followers, his friend broadcast a very patriotic stunt -but illegal.
Christopher White was arrested charged with trespassing after running on the field and stripping down to a small pair of American Flag underwear at the Astros game.
White justifies his actions, saying his organization was created to “use humor as a platform to display patriotism.”
He says he did not plan to “streak” across the field ahead of time; the decision was made during the sixth inning.
“I was just hopeful that I was going to get at least enough of a runway to where I wouldn’t get tackled immediately,” White said while recalling the night. “Give me a chance to get to the outfield essentially. And sure enough, I did it.”
Despite not planning the stunt, he says it served a purpose to bring awareness to the issue of veteran suicide.
“If I can make you laugh for at least five minutes then you’re not thinking about that dark space you could potentially be in,” he told the local news. “If I can gear it toward patriotism, to me, I consider that the holy grail.”
(Note: Skip ahead to 10:30 to see the “streaking”)
Over $500 dollars was raised through GoFund me for White’s bail but he says he donated all of it to a veteran’s charity.
