A US Marine veteran in Arizona is being lauded as a hero after he stopped an armed robbery being carried out by a numerically-superior force.

The incident in question took place early Wednesday morning at a Chevron gas station in Yuma, when three suspects entered a local Chevron gas station.

One suspect produced a handgun, pointing the weapon at the cashier.

Caught in the wrong place at the right time, the Marine veteran swept in and disarmed the gunman.

Giving credence to the adage about there being no honor amongst thieves, the other two suspects abandoned their partner and fled the area.

Taking control of the weapon and the situation, the veteran detained the suspect until law enforcement arrived.

According to FOX 8, police questioned the veteran and asked how he was so quickly able to take control of a situation where he was outnumbered and outgunned.

“The Marine Corps taught me not to [mess] around,” he reportedly said.
