A Marine and father of two, who left the military and moved to Pennsylvania only a year ago, was found dead in a pool of his own blood yesterday morning.
Sjavante Gilliam, 28, earned a purple heart while fighting overseas for his country as a Marine sniper.
Gilliam was shot once and left for dead on the sided of an Aliquippa, Pennsylvania road, according to WPXI.
According to police, his body sat there all night until six in the morning the following day, when a passerby called the police.
Neighbors did not report hearing a gun shot or much of anything on Tuesday night.
Aliquippa police Capt. Ryan Pudick said they are considering this a homicide and have compiled a list of suspects.
“We’re urging the public if they know anything or they saw anything, please get a hold of us,” Pudick said.
Gilliam was well known in the community for spending his spare time coaching youth football.
According to his Facebook, he was originally from Fort Myers, Florida and served in the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines 1st Marine Division.
