The man charged with forcibly entering a New York Rabbi’s home and brutally attacking five Jews with a machete during a Hanukkah celebration is reportedly a Marine Corps washout, according to records.
37-year-old Grafton Thomas is facing hate crime charges for his assault over the weekend, after he muscled his way into the residence and began slashing away.
Thomas, who enlisted in 2002, went to Camp Lejeune in South Carolina, but washed out of the 13-week boot camp before earning his Eagle, Globe and Anchor.
According to Military.com, one (anonymous) Marine official claimed that Thomas had likely been kicked out due to a medical condition that he failed to disclose prior to enlistment

Despite being separated months after enlisting, Thomas’ resume references his Marine Corps training, claiming his short time in the Corps taught him “survival skills,” “teamwork” and “mental discipline.”
Thomas has since pleaded “not guilty” to five counts of attempted murder, and was slapped with federal hate crime charges after it was discovered that he had Google-searched several Anti-Semitic topics prior to the attack.
