Man screams “Praise Allah” while stabbing two at Toronto military recruitment center

Police are investigating a double stabbing at a military recruitment center in Toronto, that may have been terror-related.

Monday afternoon, they say a man walked into the center and started attacking a member of the Canadian Forces – who was manning the entry counter. The second victim was stabbed as the suspect entered the back of the Joseph Shepard Building, in the heart of Toronto’s business district.

The Washington Times reports that military staffers at the center were “quickly able to subdue the attacker and turn him over to police.”

Several sources told the Toronto Sun that the 27-year-old attacker, who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, was shouting things like “Praise Allah” during the incident.

“Certain comments were made by this gentleman while he was held in custody before the police arrived which has caused some concern. This has caused us to look at the motive beyond the attack,” Police Chief Mark Saunders said.

Saunders said the unprovoked attack took place at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

Luckily, the soldiers’ injuries are not believed to be life- threatening.
