A violent and vulgar threat has been aimed at worshippers of a Ft Worth-area mosque.
Officials at the Watauga Majid Center say the mosque has dealt with hate before, but this time it was different. They tell WFAA News that their members are frightened and feel threatened by this latest call.
News 8 obtained the audio recording, which said in part: “I am a Christian and … we will cut all of your heads off.”
“It’s not American to behave like this,” said Vincent Simon– a Muslim who served in the US Marine Corps. “That is not what I fought for,” he said.
Several vets posted on News 8’s Facebook page, sharing their thoughts about the story and blaming recent heated political rhetoric for the hateful message.
The alleged Army vet who left the message called Islam a ‘violent religion’ and also said, “People like me are heavily armed to the teeth.”
Meantime, mosque members are leaning on the local police depts. to protect them from any possible violence. The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram reported that additional security was present at the mosque over the weekend
The city of Watauga released a statement, saying it was made aware of the religious intolerance expressed in the call, but indicated also that no specific threat was made.
