Israel has successfully completed a series of tests of an anti-missile laser defense system for passenger planes, the system’s manufacturer has announced. Elbit System’s MUSIC system, aka Sky Shield, is designed to protect against shoulder-fired missiles. The system is mounted on the underbelly of commercial aircraft and fires a laser that deflects incoming missiles away from the plane. Several planes have already been outfitted with the system, with more to come. Below is a dramatization of the system in action.
