According to WDTN, Wright-Patterson has increased the alert level affecting base entry and events at the Air Force Museum.
Base Spokesman Daryl Mayer said Friday the increased alert could mean longer waits to get through the gates.
“We have a general concern, obviously, that ISIL is focusing on the uniformed military and law enforcement,” FBI Director James Comey said Thursday.
Northern Command at Peterson AFB in Colorado issued the alert Thursday in response to an unspecified threat. CNN reports the increase stems from concerns over jihadist activity in the U.S. Admiral William Gortney, head of U.S. Northern Command signed an order raising the alert level Thursday.
Wright-Patterson AFB isn’t saying much about what specific measures are being taken but the security threat level was raised from Alpha to Security Protection Level Bravo, one up from the lowest level.
