Graphic report shows terrorist attack in France that claimed 84 lives

During a celebration of Bastille Day -France’s national holiday- in Nice, France, a terrorist plowed a box truck through a parade, killing eighty four people and injuring dozens.

The attack was of “an undeniable terrorist nature,” said President Francois Hollande.

France has been in a “state of emergency” –taking ever precaution and security measure known to protect the country from terrorism- since the November terrorist attacks in Paris that were carried out by ISIS militants.

Despite all efforts, a terrorist was able to use a white truck -packed with guns, ammunition, and grenades- to carry out one of the most deadly terrorist attacks in a western nation in recent history.

“It zigzagged – you had no idea where it was going. My wife… a meter away… she was dead. The lorry ripped through everything… poles, trees. We have never seen anything like it. Some people were hanging on the door and tried to stop it,” Wassim Bouhlel, a Nice resident, told the BBC.

President Francois Hollande said he will extend the country’s state of emergency that was due to expire at the end of the month, according to NPR.

The investigation into the motive and a confirmed identity of the attacker are still unclear.  Local media has named the attacker as Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, a 31-year-old French-Tunisian, but this has yet to be confirmed by police.  Reports state he had been in trouble with the police in the past but for what was described as “petty crime” and was not on any watch list for terrorism or “radicalized men.”

Apparently, Islamic State (IS) spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani had made a call for ISIS supporters to carry out attacks with trucks, similar to what the Nice attack did, according to BBC.

France will begin a three-day period of mourning on Saturday.
