Lt. General Heithold, the Air Force Special Operations Command commander, wants special operations Airmen to be as well-known as the Navy SEALs and Army Night Stalkers.  During an interview with Senior Airman Hailey Haux, Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs Command Information, Lt. Gen. Bradley Heithold said:

“You know what you get when you get a Navy SEAL. You get somebody special; you probably get the most highly trained killer on the planet,” Heithhold said. “If you stood next to them, a Night Stalker from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the world’s greatest helicopter pilot, you know what you get. You get someone who is going to get you there no matter what. When you stand an Airman up there, I want you to have that same sense that you are getting the world’s greatest Airman to get you where you need to be and provide what you need, on time, on target, any time, any place.”

Air Force Special Operations, also known in the Air Force as Special Tactics, are broken up into two specific specialties: Combat Control (CCT) and Pararescue (PJ). CCT’s are combat ready FAA certified air traffic controllers and PJ’s are combat ready rescue & recovery specialists certified as EMT’s to the paramedic level.  They work in conjunction with the other military branch’s special operations, such as Navy SEALS and Army Special Forces.

According to the Taliban in Afghanistan, Air Force CCT’s are already the most feared and deadliest operators…
