Fort Hood soldier pleads guilty to shooting her domestic partner

A female Fort Hood Soldier has pleaded guilty to shooting another woman during a domestic violence dispute earlier this year.

Samantha Ann Strough was indicted on July 31 for third-degree felony deadly conduct discharge of a firearm toward an individual, a charge that surrounded an incident that took place on June 25.

Killeen Police responding to a shooting learned from a neighbor that Strough had been in a domestic dispute with another woman outside of their apartment.

“Officers learned that Strough and (the female victim) arrived home and got into an argument,” police said. “Strough locked (the victim) out of the apartment for a short time before letting (her) in.”

According to KDH News, the argument continued indoors, where Strough produced a handgun.

“The neighbor heard (the victim) say, ‘don’t do it, don’t do it,’ and then heard a gunshot,” police said.

Strough ;ater told officers that she pulled the trigger but said she did not know the gun was loaded, a statement that defies common sense, gun safety rules and military training.

The woman has since recovered from her injuries, and Strough has pleaded guilty as part of a deal to reduce the severity of the charges against her.
