Fort Bliss soldier busted after stealing car while in uniform

Dominique Owens (El Paso Police)

A Fort Bliss Soldier was caught stealing a vehicle from a Texas auto dealership last week- and is facing some serious trouble.

Dominique Owens, who was wearing a uniform at the time, pulled up to Dubai Auto on Alameda Street in a sliver Chrysler on October 6.

Despite being clearly identifiable as a Soldier and entering a lot under security camera observation, Owens stepped into a black Chrysler 300 and drove off, leaving his silver Chrysler behind.

The Soldier utilized a spare key to carry out the heist, but was eventually located on Fort Bliss.

The El Paso Police Department and US Army law enforcement eventually caught up to Owens at a car meetup in downtown El Paso.

According to KFOXTV, the Chrysler was stripped of valuables, including expensive tires.

“If I were in his place I would be so ashamed to be trying to represent a country and just going into someone’s business and stealing their property. That’s really sad. That’s really sad,” said Arlette Salcido of Dubai Auto, the dealership the vehicle was stolen from.

Owens has been charged with theft, adding to his previous arrests for robbery in 2019.
