Whether you believe in what you did or not during war is your decision, but most veterans will agree that trying to convince a handful of young Marines of your opinion is a waste of time.
Last week, Veterans For Peace member Mike Hanes, prior Force Recon Marine and Iraq veteran, used a loud speaker in an attempt to speak to U.S. Marines stationed at Futenma Air Base on Okinawa Island.
Hanes says he was one of the first Marines to enter Iraq with the 1st Marine Recon at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The event was part of a Veterans For Peace delegation to Okinawa, the third of its kind within two years. The organization protests war and the U.S. military presence in the Japanese island of Okinawa.
