A British national who volunteered to fight against the Russians in the Ukraine conflict has been captured- and is now being paraded around on Russian social media.
28-year-old Briton Aiden Aslin, who previously fought with Kurdish forces against ISIS, has reportedly been taken prisoner after his Ukrainian Marine unit was overrun in Mariupol.
In videos, which were leaked by a pro-Donetsk People’s Republic Telegram account, the British-Ukrainian citizen appears worse for wear and is covered in bruises.
His friend, who manages his Twitter page, claims that the Russians roughed him up.
Due to his status as an official member of the Ukrainian military, Aslin is not considered a mercenary.
Aslin and his unit were forced to surrender after running out of food and ammunition.
“We have no food and no ammunition,” Aslin reported on his CossackGundi Twitter page, via his friend. “It’s been a pleasure everyone, I hope this war ends soon.”
According to LadBible, the Marine may be used as part of a prisoner exchange.
Russian forces now control Mariupol.
