An Ole Miss student was reportedly shot several times and dumped in a lake 20 miles from campus, and a fellow student has been arrested in connection to the murder.
The body of Alexandria Kostial was discovered by law enforcement on Saturday morning, during a routine patrol near Sardis Lake in the state of Mississippi.
Her alleged shooter, Brandon Theesfeld, was taken into custody and attended court on Monday at the Lafayette County Courthouse.
A former member of JROTC at the San Marcos Academy preparatory high school of Texas, Theesfeld was an avid shooter, and his father described him as a “gun tactile [sic] expert. I had more fun than I say.”
Theesfeld was active on Twitter in the days following Kostial’s death.
University of Mississippi Interim Chancellor Larry Sparks said in a statement: “We are truly saddened by the death of Alexandria Kostial.”
According to the Daily Mail, Kostial was last seen outside of a bar on Friday night, as confirmed by security footage. It is unknown if she was killed at the lake or simply disposed of there.
Theesfeld has been suspended from the University of Mississippi in Oxford and was booked at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
