During a panel discussion in Washington on Wednesday about veterans, a father of a U.S. airman who died in Afghanistan had a question for Rep. Adam D. Kinzinger (R-Ill.), who called himself “hawkish” on using U.S. military power against the Islamic State.
He asked the congressman if he knew how long it had been since the last U.S. casualty in the middle east. The congressman was not sure about the answer and the father informed him that it has been 75 days. According to the Washington Post, this is the longest period without a causality since 9/11.
