Drone captures Colombian Special Forces take down top Narco leader in Medellin

The Colombian National Police released footage of their special forces capturing Narco leader Elkin “El Patron” Triana in his luxury villa south of Medellin on Sunday. “El Patron” is the founder of the criminal gang “Los Triana,” which is dedicated to drug trafficking in Medellín,

The National Police hope the latest arrest will bring an end to Triana’s thirty plus years of criminal activity in Colombia.  He is a notorious Narco who was supported by Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel back in the 1980’s.  After Escobar’s death in 1993, “El Patron” aligned with other groups of drug traffickers such as “Los Pepes” and “La Oficina.”

According to the police, he had been hiding in the luxury villa for at least a month. The home was equipped with CCTV and armored doors, in an attempt to slow the police’s ability to infiltrate and make an arrest.

He has been arrested multiple times before and even escaped prison twice.  Despite being captured in 1999, he only “paid a sentence of more than 11 years in prison for homicide, escaped from prison twice…,” said National Police director Jorge Nieto.
