Disabled veteran shoots two men to save pregnant woman

Disabled veteran Joshua Anderson was fishing under the Jensen Beach Causeway in Martin County Florida Tuesday night, when according to News Channel 4, a fight broke out between some local vagrants. One of the instigators, Brett Jowers, pushed down the pregnant girlfriend of the second assailant, Zachery Sly.

A report by NBC News, says that after Anderson told the men to leave the woman alone they threatened to jump him. That’s when Anderson shot both men in the torso with his .380 and proceeded to call 911.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said, “He saw a woman being attacked at night, and he went to her aid. In my opinion I think he did the right thing.” He also did confirm Anderson has a disability, but did not identify what it is.

“There was an altercation at the beach pier. They were attacking a pregnant woman,” Anderson said in his call to 911. “I tried to help defend her. Two men tried to jump on me.”

Anderson has a permit for his gun and will not face charges for shooting the men.

“It was a very big altercation. I am calling for myself because this was not good,” Anderson added in this 911 call.

Sly and Jowers are both in critical condition and may be charged in the incident.
