Cyber Command Col. arrested for distributing child porn, gives confession

A Colonel in the Army’s Cyber Command is facing jail time after being accused of downloading and distributing child pornography.

Colonel Jonathan Hurwitz was discovered by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task force began investigating the download of a ‘file of interest’ that was eventually traced to his computer.

An investigator traced the file to a computer that was offering over 100 files available for download, among them photos and videos of minors approximating in ages from 9 to 15, according to WJBF.

When his identity was confirmed a search and seizure warrant was conducted on his home.

Hurwitz cooperated with the agents during their search on his home on September 8th. He confessed to downloading child pornography, saying he would watch pornography of children as young as toddlers.

He told the agents that he had never sexually abused any children.

During the search, he called his wife and told her he confessed because he had always instructed soldiers to take responsibility for their actions.

At least 65 files of child pornography were recovered during the search of Hurwitz’s computer. Agents seized as many as eighteen electronic devices from the home.
