A US Army veteran and spearfisherman has reportedly gone missing off the coast of Costa Rica, authorities report.
Eric Haury was officially labeled as “missing” on the 16th of January by the Costa Rican Coast Guard.
The veteran was reportedly off the coast of Matapalo around the time he vanished.
The circumstances behind his disappearance are not clear, and it is unknown what exactly he was doing at the time he went missing.
Haury’s mother has been in contact with the local US Embassy.
A GoFundMe has been started to help fund the search effort.
According to his Facebook, he is a Purple Heart recipient and was medically discharged from the Army in 2015.
The avid sportsman has just bought a house in Florida as well as spent time volunteering to clean up at the Texas border during the migrant crisis.
