A boat captained by a suspected Mexican smuggler was captured coming ashore on US Navy property in California, attempting to bring ten Chinese nationals into the country illegally.
The makeshift vessel arrived just south of Seal Beach, and was allegedly involved in a “multi-casualty incident.”
Witnesses told CBS Local that the illegal aliens split after reaching the shore, with several (non English-speaking) individuals racing into a surf shop, looking for a place to hide.
The individuals were checked out by Huntington Beach firefighters and were taken into federal custody shortly after.
Ten Chinese -nine men and one woman- and two Mexican men were detained in all.

The harbor side of the waterway is reported to be the property of the Navy, and US Navy Security Forces were on the scene to deal with the investigation.
