A British Army veteran was arrested by police in the United Kingdom- for posting a meme that caused “anxiety.”
Hampshire Police are drawing criticism for their arrest of British ex-squaddie Darren Brady over the posting of an “offensive meme,” and refusal to attend a sensitivity course.
The Basingstoke resident was approached at his home by the reflective vest-wearing officer.
The encounter, apparently, was due to a meme posted, showing that four of the new LGBTQ+ flag designs (that resemble a South African flag) can be stuck side by side to form a swastika.
According to the Daily Mail, Brady was arrested for “causing anxiety” with his meme, which was reported to the police.

“Why am I in cuffs?” he asked the police during the arrest on Friday.
“It didn’t have to come to this at all,” one officer said.
Brady asked for further clarification.
“Tell us why you escalated it to this level because I don’t understand,” he pleaded.
“Someone has been caused anxiety based on your social media post. That is why you have been arrested,” an officer said.
Brady was visited by police ten days prior, and told he could take a £80 education course to avoid being arrested and charged..
Former policeman Harry Miller was also detained after attempting to interfere with the arrest.
“Hampshire Police showed a blatant disregard of the law,” Miller said. “They approached Mr Brady and acted as summary judge, jury and executioner – but didn’t know what offense he’d actually committed. They said he was being arrested for causing anxiety, which is utterly ridiculous!”
Activist and actor Laurence Fox, who was also detained for interfering, has also chimed in on the matter.
“The police force in Britain has stopped being a police force that polices without fear or favor. It’s become a politicized police force exactly like the Stasi, Cheka, and the Gestapo,” said Fox.
