The Best Ranger Competition is a chance for Rangers to compete against the most elite of their own and find out who has what it takes to win the title of Best Ranger.
The three-day annual competition consists of various challenging events, placing two-man teams in physically and mentally strenuous situations, ultimately testing their prowess based on a scoring system.
Best Ranger dates back to 1982 and was limited to Ranger qualified instructors serving in the Army Ranger Department. The competition has since grown to allow Ranger qualified Soldiers in all U.S. Army units to compete.
U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Michael Rose and 2nd Lt. John Bergman (last photo below), assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, performed the best overall to become the winners of the 31st Annual Best Ranger Competition for 2014.
