Many were shocked when they witnessed how friendly new trainees arriving at Fort Leonard Wood for basic training were treated in a video released by the Army.

The recruits of Alpha 3rd BN 10th Infantry received a warm welcome by their drill sergeants on Saturday, one that has many saying that the Army’s basic training has become “too soft.”

“This is the softness that Senior Leaders are pushing here at FLW,” said a soldier at the base, who we chose to keep anonymous.

The soldier says the drill sergeants are not to blame and says the changes are a direct order from field grade officer in the chain of command.

According to the soldier, the “soft pickups” are only the beginning.  Soldiers might be wearing sneakers instead of boots all through the red phase of basic training soon.
