Army Specialist pleads guilty to raping a female child


A soldier assigned to Fort Drum has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape in the Oneida County Court on Tuesday.

21-year-old U. S Army Specialist Paul Spalding was as arrested in April, with the help of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, after a long investigation.

He was charged with rape for having sex with a girl under the age of 16.

Investigators alleged Spalding had visited the female child in the village of Remsen (roughly 1.5 hours from Fort Drum) several times over a period of three months.

He was accused of having sexual intercourse with the child in his vehicle during one of his visits, according to local news.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in Oneida County Court on November 13.

Spalding faces up to four years in prison.
