A US Army special operations Soldier was killed during a military freefall exercise over Arizona, according to military officials.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday, when a group of operators jumped over the town of Eloy, a common location to conduct freefall training.
“We are aware of an incident resulting in the death of a US Army Special Operations Command Soldier during a routine military freefall training event,” command spokesman Lt. Col. Loren Bymer said in a statement.
Private companies, such as Airborne Systems, run training courses out of a nearby airport and assist operators in becoming more proficient jumpers.
According to the Army Times, the training event took place Monday night or early Tuesday morning, and the identity of the fallen jumper has not been released.
The incident is under investigation
