Army lieutenant colonel to be separated after faking deployments, having multiple affairs

A US Army lieutenant colonel will likely be leaving the service in ignominy, due in no small part to a heap of accusations regarding lying about his achievements and multiple extramarital affairs.

Lieutenant Colonel Kane Mansir, who has been accused of adultery, faking military awards, and fabricating deployments, has been recommended for a general discharge by a board of inquiry.

The board’s decision would allow Mansir to keep his VA benefits and prevent him from a felony conviction-like dishonorable discharge, but would ultimately strip him of any retirement benefits.

In short, while he will not face criminal charges for his actions, his public disgrace and being stripped of retirement serves as his punishment.

Mansir, a civil affairs officer based in Virginia, was engaged to and expecting a child with a woman other than his wife of 18 years, whom he shares three children with.

According to Task & Purpose, Mansir has had serious relationships with over six women in the span of five years.

Mansir was at one point so bold that he provided a woman with fake deployment orders and claimed he was awarded the Silver Star for valor.

While Mansir does indeed hold a Bronze Star -which is often given to officers as deployment awards- and many other awards, the Silver Star is not among them.

An investigation and subsequent interviews with women affiliated with Mansir give insight into what may be perceived as gaslighting behavior and a tendency toward pathological lying.

Lt. Col. Randy Ready, a spokesman for the US Army Center for Initial Military Training at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, confirmed that the board “concluded its proceedings and made their recommendations.”

“As the board proceedings are not complete until HRC takes final action, no further details will be released due to Lt. Col. Mansir’s privacy interests as the case is still ongoing,” Ready said.
