Army accidentally leaks Delta Force operation in Washington D.C.

The Pentagon has revealed that the US military has been operating in secret around Washington, D.C., leaving more questions than answers.

The operation -carried out by active-duty and reserve troops- is reportedly part of an “emerging classified flight mission” that was disclosed to Congress in hopes that they would provide an extra $1.55 million.

The request was part of a $2.5 billion request to “reprogram” the current fiscal year budget, as high-priority programs are currently underfunded.

“Without additional funding, the Army will not be able to perform this classified mission,” the DoD stated in the requested document. “Soldiers from assault helicopter company and aviation maintenance units will be supporting the mission with 10 UH-60s and maintenance capabilities for four months.”

The money requested will also provide Virginia’s Fort Belvoir with a “Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility” at Davison Army Airfield.

According to Bloomberg, the US Army has not disclosed information as to whether or not the military is protecting the White House or whether units such as Delta Force and DEVGRU are being used.

“The duration of the mission is undetermined,” said Army spokesman Wayne Hall.
