Another Alaska-based soldier found dead in his residence, third in the past month

Another Soldier has mysteriously died at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, leaving many at the installation with more questions than answers.

Satellite Communications Systems Operator Sergeant Cody Lee Randall reportedly died in his Wasilla home on April 3, Army officials revealed.

Randall was a member of the 307th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, and his death is currently being investigated by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division.

“We are devastated by the loss,” said battalion commander Lt. Col. William Cherkauskas. “Cody was an intelligent, charismatic and reliable leader to all who knew him and was a master of his craft. We express our deepest condolences to his family.”

Randall had been in the Army since 2013, and his awards included the Army Commendation Medal, four Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

The death is one of three cases of individuals found unresponsive in their quarters on the installation within a month’s time.

According to the Military Times, neither of the previous deaths have been related to COVID-19.
