Alaska soldier found dead by authorities, identified by Army

An Alaska-based soldier assigned to Fort Wainwright was found dead by police in Fairbanks on Wednesday, according to officials.

21-year-old Thomas Carl Snyder III of Finksburg, Maryland was found by Fairbanks police at around 2AM on Wednesday, officials said. Foul play is not suspected at this time.

Snyder joined the Army in April 2015 and trained at Fort Benning, Georgia, before being assigned to Fort Wainwright in August of the same year as an Infantry scout with the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.

According to the Army Times, the circumstances of his death are under investigation.
