A US Air Force tech sergeant was shot and killed last week near Barksdale Air Force Base where he was stationed.
Joshua Kidd, 30, died September 25 after being shot outside a home near Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a Loading Standardization Crew Team Chief and had been in the Air Force for ten years.
He is survived by his wife, Alyssa Kidd, who is from Edwardsville, and their 2-year-old son, Beckham.
“The best way to describe Joshua was he was Captain America. He was protecting us and on top of that, he was protecting our whole entire neighborhood, and that is just who he is, he doesn’t think twice, he just takes charge. He literally is real world Captain America, unfortunately it didn’t end like it does in the movies,” Alyssa Kidd told KMOV.
Residents believe Joshua Kidd may have confronted a burglar who shot him, the station reported.
Kidd was a graduate of Staunton River High School and joined the U.S. Air Force in 2008. A GoFundMe page has raised over $39,000 for Kidd’s family.
