Airman accused of murdering fellow airman at Offutt AFB officially charged

Airman 1st Class Timothy Wilsey has been charged with the murder of Airman 1st Class Rhianda Dillard.

An Offutt airman has been charged with premeditated murder in connection with a fellow airman‘s death back in August.

Investigators say 20-year- old Airman 1st Class Timothy Wilsey is being charged with the murder of 20- year-old Rhianda Dillard, who was an Airman 1st Class with the 55th Strategic Communications Squadron at Offutt AFB.

Dillard was found dead in her dorm room in late July.

Wilsey, a member of the 55th Intelligence Support Squadron, was reportedly seen escorting Dillard to her dorm room on the afternoon of Friday, July 29. That’s the last time anyone saw her alive, family members say.  Officials said he was listed as a deserter the same day he was seen taking Dillard to her dorm.

Agents with the Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations apprehended Wilsey at a hotel in Virginia on August 11 for desertion.

Family members back in Mississippi say Dillard was a straight-A student who turned down college scholarships to join the Air Force. “She was interested in robotics… and enjoyed her work as a cybersystems operations specialist [at Offutt],” her mother told the Omaha World-Herald.

Apparently Wilsey is not talking and the motive in this case is unclear. The Air Force has not revealed yet how Dillard died. The charges may now be referred to a court- martial, local media reported. A preliminary hearing to conduct an inquiry into the charges has not yet been set.
