Afghan terrorist taken into custody after gun battle with police, one officer shot


Ahmad Rahami a 28-year-old naturalized Afghanistan citizen was taken into custody after a gun battle with police in Linden, New Jersey, a senior law enforcement official said.

Mr. Rahami, 28, was identified on surveillance video planting the bombs in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, NY  -both the device that exploded and another that did not detonate a few blocks away.

At least one officer was shot in the chest during the takedown, but was not seriously wounded because he was wearing a bullet proof vest.

Rahami was reportedly wounded in the shootout as well.

President Obama made a live television address to the nation, stating that federal law enforcement are also actively investigating the terrorist stabbing attack in Minnesota.
