A lockdown alert was issued at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst after reports of an active shooter on the base.
The shooter was reported at building 5231, which houses the Army Reserves’ 99th Readiness Division.
The division is responsible for providing logistic and administrative support for nearly 45,000 Army Reserve Soldiers living and serving throughout the Northeastern United States
Maj. Gen. Kris A. Belanger assumed command of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division from Maj. Gen. Rodney L. Faulk during a change-of-command ceremony on Aug. 11.
All military personnel were instructed to shelter in place and those outside were advised to seek cover.
