94-year-old female WWII vet beaten, robbed in Chicago

Police are searching for a suspect who attacked a 94-year-old woman on Chicago’s Southwest Side on Wednesday.

94-year-old Josephine Regnier was outside her home waiting for her daughter to pick her up when the attack happened. She ended up walking back in side when waiting for her ride to a doctor’s appointment became too cold.

The man, who was captured on security footage, followed her into her home and attacked her and fled with her purse into a stolen SUV.

Her daughter, Judy Dusk, told CBS her mother is in serious but stable condition.

“She had three broken ribs, a black eye, big knot on her head and a cut lip,” she said.

Regnier is a Navy veteran who served at Chicago’s Naval Station Great Lakes during WWII.

Villa Rosa Pizza, which captured an image of the suspect fleeing the scene after crashing the stolen getaway car, is offering  a $5,000 reward for information about the suspect.
