ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (NNS) — Two-time Grammy award winning artist T-Pain visited with the crew and put on a special show for the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1 while the Carl Vinson enjoyed a port visit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 25.

The star’s visit was a joint effort between Carl Vinson leadership and Navy Entertainment.

The artist chatted with Sailors, posed for photos and signed autographs in addition to putting on a special performance, which was a welcome break to the current deployment.

“This was a once in a life time opportunity,” said Information System’s Technician Seaman Leonard Talton. “It was a lot of fun. Meeting T-Pain was an experience I will never forget.”

The artist explained why he does these trips, what the military means to him and how he enjoys giving back to those who serve.

“I of course would like to thank the crew,” T-Pain said. “You can’t be at the top of your game unless you meet the people who put you there. It is important to support our troops and our military. If you don’t, I don’t think you have done everything that’s required to get to the top.”

Carl Vinson is currently conducting flight operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is currently deployed to the area conducting maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts.
