2 Navy Jets Crash In Pacific

The U.S. Navy said Friday that two U.S. fighter jets crashed into the Pacific Ocean on Thursday while operating at sea. Two F/A-18 Hornets, that were operating aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, crashed in the western Pacific. One pilot was rescued and was being treated aboard the aircraft carrier, and there was a search under way for the other pilot. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the jets have not been recovered.  According to NBC news, the crash occurred when the two jets collided in the air.  The USS Carl Vinson is on its way to relieve the USS George H. W. Bush in the Persian gulf, which has been conducting air operations in Iraq.
