101st Airborne soldier shot and killed during live fire exercise

The Army has confirmed that a soldier in the 101st Airborne, based out of Fort Campbell, died at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

On Tuesday, the soldier died during a live fire training exercise at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), which is based at Fort Polk.

An unofficial source, within the soldier’s brigade, stated the male soldier was hit by bullet during the live fire exercise.

The soldier was pronounced dead after being transported to the Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital.

According to a press release, the incident is under investigation and the specifics of the death have not been released.

3rd Brigade Combat Team, “Rakkasans”, left Fort Campbell, Kentucky earlier this month for their traning rotation at JRTC.
